Editable QR Codes: Change the Destination Without Reprinting
Update where your QR code points at any time — no reprinting, no new codes. One printed code, infinite destinations.
What is an editable QR code?
An editable QR code (also called a dynamic QR code) encodes a short redirect URL that you control. When someone scans the code, they're routed through Dynamic QR's redirect server to whatever destination you've set. Change the destination at any time in your dashboard — the printed code stays the same.
How editable QR codes work
- 1You generate a dynamic QR codeThe code encodes a unique short URL — e.g., dynamicqrcreator.com/r/abc123 — not the destination directly.
- 2You define the destinationIn your dashboard, you set where that short URL redirects — your menu, landing page, or any URL.
- 3Someone scans the codeTheir phone follows the short URL, gets redirected to your destination, and the scan is logged.
- 4You change the destinationUpdate the redirect in your dashboard — all existing printed codes immediately point to the new destination.

Common questions
Can you edit a QR code after printing?
Only dynamic QR codes can be edited after printing. Static QR codes permanently encode the destination — they cannot be changed. With a dynamic QR code from Dynamic QR, you can change the destination URL at any time in your dashboard.
How do I update a QR code without reprinting?
Create a dynamic QR code on Dynamic QR. When you want to change the destination, update the redirect in your dashboard. The physical printed code doesn't change — the redirect server just sends scanners to the new URL.
Will the QR code still work if I change the destination?
Yes — the printed QR code always points to Dynamic QR's redirect URL, which we control. Changing the destination in your dashboard updates where that redirect goes. All existing printed materials continue to work.
Does editing a QR code affect its appearance?
No — the printed QR code image never changes. Only the destination the redirect points to changes. This is why dynamic codes are safe to print at scale.
